Visionaries Announces New Chair, Wesley “Wes” Lazarus

Volunteers of America North Louisiana is thrilled to announce Wesley “Wes” Lazarus as the new chair to lead their young adult membership group known as Visionaries. Wes, a native of Shreveport, Louisiana will be Visionaries’ second leader following former chair, Nick Oliver.

“I have enjoyed my time tremendously with the group since 2018 and consider it a privilege to serve in this new role,” Lazarus, assistant vice president with Progressive Bank, shares. “While the current pandemic will produce challenges for us all, Visionaries will continue to find creative ways to serve our community and continue to do what we do best.” Lazarus will serve a two-year term as chair.

Visionaries is a group of engaged young adults committed to helping the needs of vulnerable people in Shreveport-Bossier. In partnership with the mission of Volunteers of America North Louisiana, Visionaries serve children and families in need in the Shreveport-Bossier area. Visionaries provides high-impact, low time-commitment service opportunities throughout the year such as happy hours with a purpose – also known as “Sip N’ Serve” events, as well as Vocations with Visionaries that is a special career fair for students in the LightHouse after-school program.

In 2019, over 150 people attended Visionaries’ events ranging from Sip N’ Serve happy hours to service opportunities. Through these efforts, almost 100 students met with young professionals in their community and donated over 700 items to benefit children and families in need.
