Six Community Leaders Join the 2024-25 Board of Directors

Volunteers of America North Louisiana (VOANLA) is pleased to announce six new Board members, bringing the total number of Board members to thirty community leaders.

The new members are David Alexander, co-owner at Vintage Realty Company; Hilary Elberson; Melissa Flores, president at Blanchard, Walker, O’Quin & Roberts law firm; Stuart Harris, partner at McClure, Bomar, & Harris, LLC risk management and insurance company; Tonya Katz; and Paul Pratt, owner of Paul Pratt Allstate Insurance Agency.

With high levels of expertise in various sectors across our community, each newly-elected Board member brings their dedication and servant’s heart to the table. Board members’ responsibilities include advocating for those served, overseeing the organization’s business, and fiscal responsibility to help close an annual $2.5 million funding gap. This gap is the financial difference between what VOANLA receives in government funds and the cost of providing quality, intensive services to thousands of children and families, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and senior adults in our community.

In addition, the organization welcomes a new Board of Directors Chair! Dr. Sheyenne Carper will succeed Keith Evans in beginning her two-year term as leader. Other 2024-25 Board officers include Melissa Flores as Vice Chair, Dr. Ruby C. Scroggins as Secretary, and John Ponthie as Treasurer.

“These wonderful individuals bring perspective and passion to our Board,” Carolyn Hammond, Volunteers of America North Louisiana president and CEO, shares. “On behalf of those we serve, I look forward to an incredible year working with our leadership team to cultivate and sustain our beloved organization.”
