EpiCenter
Volunteers of America North Louisiana’s EpiCenter is the first and only center in Northwest Louisiana to provide psychosis specialty care and serious mental illness counseling.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Age 15+ and experiencing psychosis or clinically high risk for experiencing psychosis
- Willingness to engage in an intensive coordinated system of care model
Services Include:
- Psychotherapy
- Psychiatric medication management/primary care
- Individual, group, and family education, case management, and supported employment and education
Our center’s clinicians aim to provide timely, high-quality mental health care, that addresses the unique needs and individual preferences of each client to enhance the outcome of treatment.
Information & Outreach
Stages of Psychosis
- Client has no existing psychosis related diagnosis.
- At risk for psychosis by having a previously diagnosed SMI.
- Newly experiencing symptoms such as seeing/hearing things that are not there, hearing voices, and/or having grandiose beliefs.
- Seeking support for obtaining a diagnosis and support.
- Client may or may not have an existing psychosis related disorder.
- Psychosis symptoms are causing daily impairments (unable to attend school, have a job, poor relationships, possible SI/HI, etc.)
- Client is consistently in crisis (in and out of inpatient hospital setting, correctional facilities, homeless, etc.)
- Open to support with intensive outpatient services, medication management, supported employment and education services, case management and therapeutic group services.
- Client has an existing psychosis diagnosis and is stable.
- Client utilizes all available program supports to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
- Clients participate in ongoing counseling and skill building services, medication management, and daily group services that build vocational, healthy living, pro social and other skills to foster independence and wellness.

Our EpiCenter program extends behavioral health care beyond the clinic and into the community. Our outreach efforts empower individuals, families, and partners to recognize the importance of mental wellness, connect to resources, and build stronger, healthier lives together.
Community Engagement
We believe everyone deserves access to hope, healing, and support. Our outreach service bring mental health education, resources, and connection directly into the community.
From school presentations and youth workshops to family wellness events and community partnerships, we meet people where they are to offer guidance, break down stigma, and help individuals take the next step toward wellness.
Professional Collaboration
Our outreach service expands behavioral health access beyond clinical walls. Our outreach initiatives focus on prevention, education, and early intervention, connecting individuals and families to care before crises occur.
By collaborating with schools, healthcare providers, faith communities, and local organizations, we deliver trauma-informed support, mental health awareness programming, and evidence-based resources designed to strengthen community wellbeing.
