Nick Oliver announced as 2018 Visionaries Chair
Volunteers of America North Louisiana is thrilled to announce Nick Oliver as the 2018 Chair to lead their community group, Visionaries. Nick, a native of Shreveport, Louisiana and currently a Financial Analyst at the Entrepreneurial Accelerator Program, will be Visionaries’ first leader. “We have a great group of volunteers who are a passionate about serving those in need in our community,” Oliver shares. “I’m excited for a great year ahead.”
Visionaries is an initiative aimed at introducing young people in the community to Volunteers of America and offering easy, affordable ways to give back while enjoying events around the community. Visionaries hosts quarterly happy hours with a purpose – also known as “Sip n Serve” events. Last year, over 100 people attended Visionaries’ Sip n Serve events and collected toys, school supplies, as well as healthy snacks for children in Volunteers of America North Louisiana’s LightHouse, an after-school and summer program.
The first 2018 Visionaries Sip n Serve will be Thursday, Feb 22 at Ki Mexico, 5:30 to 7 pm. The theme is Mardi Gras & Margs and attendees are encouraged to donate children’s hygiene items, such as shampoo, conditioner, combs, brushes, toothpaste and toothbrushes.
Other 2018 Visionaries community committee members include Ashby Davis, Courtnei Gabriel, Frannie Meehan and Sara Patronella. If you are interested in joining, visit their Facebook page at facebook.com/voanorthlavisionaries.
