Local authors Anne Wilson and Lenora Nazworth have collaborated on a newly released book to benefit the work of Volunteers of America of North Louisiana.
“Take off Your Shoes” is a spiritual memoir written by Anne Wilson, longtime community volunteer and Bible teacher. She shares the evolution of her relationship with God from a childhood faith to a mature trust. She hopes “Take Off Your Shoes” will help people become more acutely aware of the heaven all around us and to be able to see God in every common bush.
Novelist Lenora Nazworth contributed “Shoe Therapy,” a devotional section about much more than shoes. “It also gives women a positive outlook on putting your best foot forward,” she said. “If we walk in faith, no matter our shoe style, Christ will guide us in the right direction.”
The authors had been considering the ideas separately when they realized how much they fit together. Also, both are supporters of Volunteers of America and wanted to use their talents to support the organization.
“I love children and it took only one Cherish the Children of God breakfast to make me know that I wanted to help all I could with this endeavor,” Wilson said. “Volunteers of America is doing a wonderful job reaching out to needy children and young people and the results are heart warming and sometimes heart wrenching!”
The books are available for a donation $17.95 at the following locations and other local gift stores:
