Like-new home brings hope

Hope Filled Homes brought just that to Bridgette, when they remodeled her home on a recent weekend.

The faith-based group provides needed housing repair to people who could not afford it otherwise. In Bridgette’s case, the work allows her to continue to live independently.

HFH_2Born with a disability that requires her to use a wheelchair, Bridgette is used to living in the home where she grew up with her mother. A few months ago, her mother died, making it much more difficult to take care of herself, even with the help of Volunteers of America.

Then the team from Hope Filled Homes arrived. Over the course of a Saturday, they renovated the bathroom, giving her more room to move and laying new tile. In the kitchen, they replaced the counters and turned the cabinets into open shelves for easier access. And they did a beautiful job!

With these slight modifications, Bridgette can live at home and continue to work and be part of the community she loves.
