You can make a huge difference to a fourth or eighth grader about to take the LEAP test.
Volunteers of America of North Louisiana is seeking tutors for students who will be taking the LEAP test in April.
Tutors will be assigned to a particular student, and the pairs will review skills the students will need for the test. A workbook is provided. Last year, the fourthand eighth grade students who were in the program did considerably better than other students at their schools.
Tutoring begins Jan. 22 and will continue until April 4 except for the week of preliminary testing (March 18-22) and Spring Break (March 25 – 29) Volunteers can choose one or two hours a week from the following times and places:
Westwood Elementary, 7325 Jewella Ave.: 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The LightHouse, 802 Travis St.: Choose two hours a week between 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
