This year marks a remarkable milestone for South Pointe Place Apartments—10 years of serving Shreveport’s seniors with dignity, safety, and independence.
Located at 1133 South Pointe Parkway, South Pointe Place first opened its doors in 2015, a project led by Volunteers of America North Louisiana with a clear mission: to provide high-quality, affordable housing to those who need it most. In the decade since, it has grown into far more than a housing development—it’s become a true community.
A Vision Realized
Built with just 50 thoughtfully designed units, South Pointe Place was envisioned as a haven for low-income seniors, offering both independence and access to support. Every element of the three-story complex was created with accessibility, comfort, and aging-in-place in mind. From wide doorways and grab bars to inviting community rooms and onsite support services, the building’s design reflects a deep respect for its residents.
A Community That Cares
Over the past 10 years, South Pointe Place has become home to dozens of Shreveport residents who might otherwise struggle to find safe, affordable housing. Through resident events, health screenings, and supportive services, the property has fostered connection and purpose—building a sense of belonging that stretches well beyond its walls.
